Movement Sessions

Movement is nourishment. Our bodies are built to move. When we move well, our general health is enhanced, our ability to be present arises, and we are opened up to possibilities. Healthy movement unfolds when we turn our attention to sensing how we move; to embodying our movement. Attending to how we move and function puts us on the path to living with greater ease, liveliness, strength, awareness, and balance in our bodies and our lives.

Movement sessions with Stephanie are welcoming, focused, attuned to your needs, exploratory, and challenging. She is skilled at helping each person find movement potential in their bodies so that each body can find its own innate source of fluidity, support and intelligence. She helps her students to listen to their bodies more clearly and to engage more deeply with whatever healing, movement practice, expression, or athleticism is their interest or passion.

Sessions explore physical experiences and principles with a spirit of inquiry, dialogue and enjoyment. Movement material incorporates Stephanie’s extensive study of many somatic forms; Pilates, Body-Mind Centering® and yoga, experiential anatomy, Feldenkrais, a life-time of dancing and improvisation, and a graduate degree in movement education from Stanford University.

Stephanie has a gift for working with people healing injuries. She is able to help individuals find the movements that their bodies will welcome while dealing with pain and discomfort and to effectively work with whatever issues are arising. She listens to the questions that symptoms pose and integrates the questions of the individual parts into the movement and support of the whole body.
